Jordan Brook has come forward to disclose that he has been diagnosed with two viruses that are leading to inflammation in his brain. The reality TV personality, aged 31, shared with his followers that he has been confirmed to have viral meningitis and encephalitis. Jordan urged his fans to disregard online rumors circulating about his health, addressing the speculation in a video posted on his Instagram account.
Currently expecting his first child with Sophie Kasaei, Jordan is currently hospitalized and under constant supervision, receiving care around the clock and being closely monitored for any potential seizures. In a candid video from his hospital bed, he detailed his ongoing health struggles.
Seated upright in his hospital bed in the video, Jordan began by expressing, “This is the first time I’ve felt strong enough to talk about what’s happening. There have been numerous speculations regarding my condition and why I’m here, with various comments and statements circulating about my recent diagnosis.” He went on to reveal, “I have been diagnosed with two concurrent viruses that are attacking a similar area of my body. I am dealing with viral meningitis and encephalitis simultaneously, which involve inflammation of the brain and its surrounding lining. This is a serious and significant health challenge.”
According to the NHS, Meningitis is characterized as an infection of the protective membranes that envelop the brain and spinal cord. When left untreated, meningitis can escalate into life-threatening sepsis and potentially result in permanent damage to the brain or nerves. On the other hand, encephalitis is described by the NHS as a rare yet severe condition in which the brain becomes inflamed. Urgent hospital treatment is required for this life-threatening condition.
Jordan elaborated on the battery of tests he has undergone, stating, “I have undergone CT scans, MRI Lumbar scans, and lumbar punctures. I have been under constant care since my admission to this hospital, receiving intravenous drips, antiviral medication, pain management, physiotherapy, and seizure monitoring, as I face a minor seizure risk at present.” He further revealed, “Unfortunately, the swelling in my brain is worsening, making even simple day-to-day tasks challenging. This is the reality of my daily struggle.”
In a cautionary tone, Jordan emphasized, “I am on day 11 of treatment, and I want to remind everyone to be cautious of the information they come across online and to be mindful of the content being shared.”
