Iran allegedly utilized a space launch vehicle to fire two ballistic missiles at the joint UK-US Diego Garcia military base, as per reports.

The exact timing of the attack remains unclear, but the Ministry of Defence stated it occurred before Keir Starmer authorized an expansion of American use of British sites. The missiles did not hit the facility on the Chagos Islands, with one failing in flight and the other intercepted by the US.

This incident raises concerns among British military leaders about Iran’s military capabilities, potentially having more strength than previously assessed, possibly reaching major European capitals like Paris. While it was believed that Iran’s missiles had a range of 2,000km, the Diego Garcia base is about 3,800km from Tehran.

Experts, such as retired Royal Navy commodore Steve Prest, suggest that Iran’s Simorgh space launch vehicle might enhance the regime’s missile range. The launches are seen as a demonstration of power and defiance by Iran.
