The Southport investigation is committed to determining the necessary actions to safeguard individuals from atrocities as it probes the killings of three young girls. Bebe King, aged six, Elsie Dot Stancombe, aged seven, and Alice da Silva Aguiar, aged nine, were tragically murdered at a Taylor Swift-themed dance event in July 2024 by the disturbed teenager, Axel Rudakubana.
During the inquiry, it was revealed that three referrals were made to the Government’s counter-terror program, Prevent, regarding the assailant’s conduct in the years leading up to the incident, in addition to multiple reports to law enforcement agencies.
The first phase of the investigation, focusing on matters concerning law enforcement, the justice system, and the various agencies involved prior to the attack, is set to be released on Monday.
Rudakubana, whose parents migrated from Rwanda, was born in Cardiff and relocated to Southport with his family at a young age in 2013. He commenced his education at The Range High School in Formby at the age of 11 in 2017.
