A man was captured on camera demanding entry into a house where a mother and her child were alone. The unsettling footage showed the man, dressed in a long coat, an anime T-shirt, and glasses, interrogating the homeowner through a Ring doorbell camera. He insisted on the door being opened and inquired about the daughter’s whereabouts.
Despite the homeowner’s repeated requests for the man to leave and assurances that everyone inside was safe, the man persisted in knocking on the door and staring into the camera. Eventually, he resorted to banging on the door, attempting to break in forcibly.
The man claimed to be Harry Dresden, a fictional wizard private detective, and tried to enter the house while the homeowner’s husband was away. However, the husband, observing the situation through a security camera, rushed back home. Before the husband arrived, the man gained access through a sliding glass door, prompting the homeowner to arm himself with a shovel.
A physical altercation between the man, later identified as Jason Nichols, and the homeowner resulted in both sustaining head injuries. Police arrived at the scene, arrested Nichols, and charged him with multiple felonies. The video of the incident has gone viral online, drawing attention to the homeowner’s efforts to protect his family.
Nichols faces charges including gross bodily injury, intent to terrorize, first-degree burglary, and vandalism. His bail has been set at $35,000 (£26,000).
