A tragic school shooting incident in Turkey has resulted in at least four deaths and several injuries. The incident occurred at Ayser Çalık Middle School in Kahramanmaraş, as confirmed by the local governor.
Kahramanmaraş Governor Mükerrem Ünlüer stated that there was an ongoing attack at the school, leading to injuries and loss of life. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, where it was verified that four individuals had died. Witnesses observed students and staff fleeing the building.
Authorities have not yet identified the attacker responsible for the violence. Justice Minister Akın Gürlek announced the commencement of a thorough investigation, urging the media to respect the confidentiality of the case and promising updates from official sources.
This tragic event marks the second school shooting in Turkey within a span of two days. On Tuesday, a 17-year-old student opened fire at Ahmet Koyuncu Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in Siverek, injuring sixteen people before taking his own life. The incident prompted an evacuation of the school premises and a comprehensive investigation.
Law enforcement and medical teams rushed to the scene following the attack, which reportedly began at 9:30 am local time on Tuesday. A witness described the assailant entering the school with a shotgun and firing indiscriminately on school grounds and inside the building.
According to Turkey’s Interior Ministry, the perpetrator of the previous day’s shooting has been identified. The statement revealed that the violence resulted in injuries to 10 students, four teachers, one police officer, and one canteen operator.
