A man reportedly tried to breach the White House perimeter by leaping over a security barrier, leading to US Secret Service officers subduing him on the ground. The incident occurred at approximately 11:30 am local time on Thursday, prompting a security alert at the White House. The man’s identity remains undisclosed, but it is known that he jumped over a construction bollard near the Treasury Building on the complex’s north-east side.
The individual was swiftly apprehended and held in custody. During the scuffle, one officer sustained a minor laceration. Both the officer and the suspect were transported to a nearby hospital for assessment.
According to Anthony Guglielmi, the Secret Service chief of communications, the man was swiftly detained by uniformed officers near a pedestrian gate after vaulting over a construction bollard. A physical altercation ensued before the suspect was taken into custody. Following the incident, both the officer and the suspect were evaluated for non-life-threatening injuries.
