President Donald Trump has removed Vice President JD Vance from the team handling peace negotiations with Iran. In addition, Trump has issued a stern warning that the entire country of Iran could face devastating consequences if a peace agreement is not reached.
Trump informed The Weekend that Vance will not be participating in the upcoming talks in Islamabad due to security concerns. Instead, the delegation will be led by Steve Whitkoff and Jared Kushner. The president disclosed to Fox News that the delegation is scheduled to travel to Islamabad for meetings starting on Tuesday, possibly extending into Wednesday.
Emphasizing the importance of the upcoming negotiations, Trump stated that it represents the final opportunity for Iran to sign the deal. He asserted that failure to reach an agreement would result in severe actions, stating, “If Iran does not sign this deal, the whole country is getting blown up.”
The decision to escalate tensions follows recent provocations, with Trump accusing Iran of violating a ceasefire agreement after reports of Iranian gun boats firing on tankers in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran had previously declared the closure of the vital waterway in response to the ongoing blockade of Iranian ports by the US.
In a strongly worded message on social media, Trump urged Iran to cooperate during the upcoming peace talks in Islamabad. He warned that if Iran refuses to comply, the US will target every power plant and bridge in the country.
This latest development echoes Trump’s previous threats to target Iranian infrastructure, as seen in his previous contentious social media posts. Despite the escalating rhetoric, diplomatic efforts are set to resume in Islamabad, with hopes for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing tensions between the two nations.
