Katie, aged 35, who exchanged vows with Nick last year, revealed that she was subjected to years of rape by her father. Tragically, Katie’s father passed away when she was 18.

In a heartfelt video shared on Instagram, Katie courageously opened up about her ordeal, stating, “I have never publicly discussed this, except with close friends and family. I underwent years of sexual abuse by my father. While it still haunts me at times, therapy has helped me achieve a level of emotional balance.”

She emphasized the prevalence of gender-based violence, highlighting that while not all men are perpetrators, the majority of domestic violence and sexual abuse cases involve men. Katie stressed that such abuse typically occurs at the hands of someone known to the victim, such as a family member, partner, or ex-partner.

Reflecting on the challenges women face, Katie expressed feeling constantly vigilant and vulnerable, even during routine activities like walking from the gym to her car. She underscored the pervasive impact of gender-based violence on women’s daily lives and the need for heightened awareness and action.

The couple, with a notable age gap of 27 years, had been in a relationship for four years before tying the knot. Their engagement took place during a trip to New Orleans, culminating in a lavish wedding at the prestigious Braxted Park in Essex.
