“Reform Party Candidate Linked to Oswald Mosley Support”

Published on

A candidate for the Reform party, who has had a meeting with Nigel Farage, has been revealed to be a supporter of Oswald Mosley. Andrew Mahon, seen in a photo shaking hands with the Reform leader, has expressed admiration for the infamous fascist leader. Mahon, aged 64, who is running for a council seat in Blackburn in the upcoming local elections, has also openly expressed support for Enoch Powell. In a Facebook post from December 2024, Mahon stated, “Oswald was right 100%… we need an educational correction in the U.K. Powell and Moseley were correct, multiculturalism has failed, it has been an unmitigated disaster.”

Joe Mulhall, Director of Research at Hope Not Hate, commented on the situation, highlighting the concerning nature of Reform candidates endorsing extreme views. Mulhall emphasized the shock at seeing a candidate supporting Britain’s most notorious fascist leader, Oswald Mosley, whose British Union of Fascists was known for its virulent antisemitism. Mulhall further explained Mosley’s history, including his association with Adolf Hitler and imprisonment during World War II.

Responding to a user who engaged with his post about Mosley and Powell, Mahon defended his views by stating that there are integration issues in the UK that politicians have failed to address adequately. He clarified that his arguments were not rooted in racism but in the observation of integration failures in the country.

Enoch Powell, known for his controversial “Rivers of Blood” speech, was dismissed from the Tory shadow cabinet in the late 1960s. In August, Mahon praised Powell’s views on integration and expressed regret that Powell did not foresee the threat of Muslim terrorism in the UK. The article also mentions Mahon’s interactions on social media where he used offensive language and made derogatory remarks about a female Green MP.

The article goes on to discuss Mahon’s public interactions, including a photo with Farage where he mentioned receiving good luck wishes for the local elections and urged people to vote for Reform. The Reform party stated that they are looking into the allegations regarding Mahon’s statements. Mahon was contacted for a response.

The article concludes by referencing previous instances where Reform party candidates were involved in controversial statements, including anti-Muslim comments and conspiracy theories. It also mentions another Reform candidate who praised Adolf Hitler.
