Police swiftly surrounded a vehicle in Dudley after receiving reports of apparent corpses visible in the back seat. Luke Orchard, 38, was driving along Castle Gate Island with what seemed to be skeletons in his rear seats, catching the attention of a concerned passerby.
These skeletons, however, turned out to be props used by Orchard, a lecturer at Dudley College and a member of the band Tumanduumband, for educational and performance purposes. Recounting the incident on Facebook, he described being stopped by multiple police cars and officers, who had received a report of someone transporting deceased individuals.
Initially unaware that the commotion involved him, Orchard, who was playing loud music, eventually realized he was the focus of the police activity after being surrounded by law enforcement vehicles. Reflecting on the event, he mentioned being accustomed to having the skeletons in his car and had not considered the potential misunderstanding. Despite finding humor in the situation later, he acknowledged feeling shaken at the time.
In light of the incident, Orchard intends to cover the models when driving to avoid similar misunderstandings, although he jokingly mentioned their utility in deterring car theft.
