Lewis Moody, a former rugby player for Leicester Tigers and Bath, considers himself fortunate to have taken up the fight against Motor Neurone Disease after being diagnosed with the condition last September. Despite the heartbreaking news, the 47-year-old Moody remains positive, viewing his situation as an opportunity to raise awareness about the disease, following the examples set by Doddie Weir and Rob Burrow.
In an interview with Mail Online, Moody expressed his optimistic outlook, stating, “I’ve always had a positive outlook on life. The news I’ve received has given me clarity and a focus on my daily priorities. While moments of sadness occur, I choose to embrace the present and stay proactive.”
Moody mentioned making adjustments to his home for wheelchair access and recording his voice as preparations for potential challenges ahead. He emphasized feeling grateful for having a platform to advocate for the disease, highlighting the importance of using his influence to make a difference.
In October, Moody disclosed his diagnosis alongside his wife Annie. He shared the emotional experience of informing his children, particularly his son Dylan, whose accidental overhearing of a conversation led to a difficult but necessary discussion about the illness.
