Ashleigh Butler and her exceptionally talented dog Pudsey made history by becoming the first dog act to win the popular show Britain’s Got Talent. During the sixth season in 2012, Pudsey, a charming mix of Border Collie, Bichon Frise, and Chinese Crested, impressed both the audience and judges with his clever tricks.
The emotional reactions from judges like Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden highlighted the impact of Ashleigh and Pudsey’s performance. Their unforgettable dance routine to the Mission Impossible theme in the finale secured their victory over their competitors Jonathan and Charlotte, leaving judge Simon Cowell fulfilled.
Following their success on the show, Ashleigh landed a lucrative book deal worth £350,000, adding to their existing prize money from BGT and earnings from other appearances. Fourteen years later, Ashleigh continues to showcase her talents with dogs, recently participating in the prestigious dog show Crufts with Nacho, winning the Royal Kennel Club Singles Agility competition.
Ashleigh recently shared her joy on Instagram about her Crufts experience, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to compete and present at the event. Her partner, Byron Witchell, a multi-talented performer, supported her at the show. The couple’s relationship seems to have progressed, as they recently moved into a new home together, marking a new chapter for them.
Despite the tragic loss of Pudsey to leukaemia in 2017, Ashleigh found comfort in Sully, a dog resembling Pudsey, leading to further success at Crufts in 2018. Their journey continued with an appearance on Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions, where they showcased their skills but fell short of reaching the grand finale.
