Sky subscribers who enjoy movie marathons are in for a change as the TV company is set to merge two of its existing services into one. Sky has announced that Sky Cinema Animation (channel 312) will combine with Sky Cinema Family starting April 30, streamlining the offering to create a unified platform for family-friendly films on channel 304.

This move aims to simplify the viewing experience, consolidating a variety of popular titles into a single location. Viewers can look forward to accessing a range of well-loved movies such as the Shrek series, The Secret Life of Pets, Smurfs, How to Train Your Dragon, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and Wicked all in one place.

While the standalone Sky Cinema Animation channel will no longer be available, fans need not worry as it will make periodic returns during school holiday periods to cater to younger audiences. These temporary appearances are scheduled for July 24 to August 30, October 23 to November 1, and December 1 to January 5.

In other news, Sky has ventured into the home security sector by introducing new smart devices. Customers now have the option to subscribe to a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 monthly, with a £15 upfront fee. This system includes features like full HD video recording, instant mobile alerts, customizable activity zones, two-way audio, and 30 days of cloud video storage.

For those seeking additional functionalities, Sky offers a Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ for £8 per month and a £20 upfront charge. This package includes an indoor camera and enhanced app controls, allowing for features such as scheduled arming and automatic device modes.
