“UK Alert: Argos Recalls Faulty Toshiba and Bush TVs”

Published on

Consumers in the UK are being advised to inspect their televisions bought from a major British retailer due to safety concerns that specific models might pose a fire hazard.

The televisions in question were retailed by Argos, with certain Toshiba and Bush brand TV sets discovered to have defective wiring that falls short of mandatory safety requirements.

As per the notification, there is a remote chance that the issue could result in a fire if the electrical system malfunctions, hence prompting a complete product recall.

The alert affects 17 Toshiba models produced between November 2024 and February 2026, along with 15 Bush models sold from December 2024 to March 2026.

Argos emphasized that the risk is minimal and mentioned that the majority of products are unaffected. The problem with the Toshiba TVs pertains to the power cable and fuse, while the issue with Bush TVs is related to a similar fuse-related concern.

In the recall advisory, a spokesperson from Argos stated: “Although the power cable and fuse have been identified as low risk and the majority of products are not impacted, we are committed to the safety of our customers and are requesting anyone who has purchased one of the mentioned products to visit the provided website to verify if their Toshiba TV matches the listed serial numbers of affected products.”

Customers concerned about owning a potentially faulty Bush television should check their serial number on the designated website link.

The Argos spokesperson added: “By entering the TV’s serial number, customers can determine if their product is included and, if so, follow the online steps to arrange for a replacement power cable or fuse, which will be provided at no cost.

“For those opting for fuse replacement, detailed instructions for the replacement process can be found on the aforementioned website.”

Customers can locate their TV’s serial number by inspecting the rating label on the rear of the unit.

Argos stated that this action is a precautionary measure to ensure customer safety, expressing regret to affected customers for any inconvenience caused.
