Stephen Fry Sues CogX Tech Conference for Fall Injuries

Published on

Sir Stephen Fry is taking legal action against the CogX tech conference, seeking a substantial sum of money following a significant fall he experienced onto concrete. The renowned comic actor and broadcaster sustained multiple fractures, including his leg, hip, pelvis, and ribs, during a keynote speech mishap in September 2023.

Recalling the incident, the 68-year-old star of Blackadder shared details of the fall, mentioning that he unknowingly walked off the stage edge, resulting in a 6-foot drop. He fractured his right leg, hip, pelvis, and ribs in the fall but expressed gratitude for his recovery progress, noting that he no longer needs a walking aid.

Having filed a personal injury claim against CogX Festival Ltd and Blonstein Events Ltd, Sir Stephen seeks compensation of up to £100,000. The court documents state that the fall occurred due to the defendants’ negligence in ensuring a safe and well-protected backstage area.

In response to the claim, a representative from CogX Festival Ltd expressed concern for Sir Stephen’s well-being without providing further comments due to the ongoing legal process. Legal counsel for Sir Stephen emphasized the necessity of court proceedings to determine responsibility for the injuries suffered.

As of now, no hearing date has been set for the claim. The Mirror reached out to CogX Festival Limited and Blonstein Events for their input on the matter.
