“Daily Mirror Grants Young Boy’s Legoland Dream Amid Vision Loss Risk”

Published on

A young boy with a deep passion for Lego had his wish fulfilled by the Daily Mirror, who assisted in sending him and his family to Legoland before he potentially loses his vision.

Five-year-old Mason Hogg, residing in Gloucester, received a diagnosis of multiple meningiomas—a rare type of tumor located behind his eyes, at the top of his head, base of his skull, and in his neck. His mother, Sarah Mckeown, was informed by doctors that Mason’s case was unique, being the first child worldwide to have tumors in these specific areas. This complexity made finding an appropriate treatment challenging, with the risk of potential vision loss looming.

In an effort to create lasting memories for Mason before his condition worsened, his mother initiated a heartwarming campaign to send him to Legoland. The Mirror collaborated with Legoland and GoFundMe to turn Mason’s dream into reality.

During their stay at Legoland’s renowned Castle Hotel on April 19, Mason, accompanied by his mother, aunt, cousin, and siblings, enjoyed numerous amenities, including a themed room with a playful riddle and Lego surprise, as well as VIP Gold passes offering exclusive access to attractions and activities.

Despite his initial fear of roller coasters, Mason conquered Legoland’s iconic The Dragon ride and reveled in the experience, later expressing a desire to revisit the theme park to explore more. The family also ventured into The Haunted House Monster Party, where they spun upside down, a thrilling experience that Mason particularly enjoyed.

Despite facing the uncertainty of his condition, Mason remains a cheerful and curious child, cherished by his community and school for his vibrant personality. Sarah continues to seek insights and support from experts to navigate Mason’s unique medical situation, hoping for a positive outcome for her son’s vision.

As Mason and his family continue to recover from the challenges of the past few months, they remain hopeful that his sight will be preserved.
