A woman was reportedly sexually assaulted during daylight hours on a Saturday morning. West Mercia Police disclosed that the incident occurred in an alleyway on The Tything between 6am and 8:30am the previous morning.
Authorities have confirmed that a 23-year-old man has been taken into custody on suspicion of perpetrating the assault. The individual remains under police supervision while investigations are ongoing.
Specialized officers are providing support to the victim, and law enforcement personnel have been dispatched to the vicinity to reassure residents and conduct additional inquiries.
Detective Inspector Lisa Tibbits stated, “I understand that an event of this nature can cause significant unease within the community, and I want to assure the public that a comprehensive investigation is currently underway.”
She urged anyone with potentially relevant information, no matter how trivial it may seem, to come forward and assist the authorities in their inquiries. The detained individual is cooperating with the investigation.
