“Plan Ahead: Supermarket Opening Hours for May Bank Holiday”

Published on

The upcoming May bank holiday weekend provides a welcome break for many, offering an extra day off work and school. While this presents a chance to relax and spend time with loved ones, it also means that certain stores will be closed. Unlike mandatory closures on Christmas Day and Easter Sunday, shops are not obligated to shut on bank holidays. However, many will operate on reduced hours to allow their staff to enjoy some additional time off, as reported by the Manchester Evening News.

Major supermarkets in Britain, including Aldi, Lidl, Tesco, and Sainsbury’s, typically adjust their opening hours during bank holidays. To avoid any inconvenience during your Monday grocery shopping, it is advisable to verify if your local store is open before heading out. For your convenience, here is a list of confirmed supermarket opening times for Aldi, Lidl, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Asda, Waitrose, and Marks and Spencer branches.

Aldi has confirmed that its branches will be open on Bank Holiday Monday, with most stores operating from 8 am to 8 pm. However, opening hours may vary, so customers are encouraged to check their local store details online. Asda announced that most larger branches will maintain regular hours over the weekend, but some stores may have different opening times. Lidl stated that branches outside the M25 and in Wales will be open from 8 am to 8 pm on Bank Holiday Monday, with exceptions for some locations. Stores in Scotland and within the M25 will operate as usual. Customers should verify specific opening hours for their local Lidl store.

M&S confirmed that all stores will be open during the May Bank Holiday weekend, although operating hours may differ among locations. Morrisons stores in England and Wales will open from 7 am to 8 pm on Bank Holiday Monday, while Scottish stores will maintain regular hours. Sainsbury’s will have the majority of stores open from 8 am to 8 pm, with convenience stores operating from 7 am to 11 pm. Tesco revealed that most large stores in England and Wales will open from 8 am to 6 pm, while stores in Scotland and Northern Ireland will have different hours. Waitrose mentioned that some stores may have reduced hours on Bank Holiday Monday.

Customers are advised to check the opening hours of their local stores to avoid any inconvenience.
