“Woman clinically dead after surgery makes remarkable recovery”

Published on

A woman, Hinda Abrahams, had a near-death experience during what was supposed to be a routine medical procedure to address a suspected ectopic pregnancy. After undergoing surgery, Hinda woke up in intensive care to discover that her heart had stopped twice due to an allergic reaction to anesthesia, causing her to be clinically dead for a brief period. Despite the frightening ordeal, Hinda is now on the road to recovery at home, grateful for a second chance at life.

Hinda’s medical journey began with abdominal pain and spotting, leading her to seek medical attention. She was shocked to learn that she was pregnant, suspecting it to be an ectopic pregnancy due to her symptoms. Doctors confirmed the ectopic pregnancy and scheduled a procedure to address it, which unexpectedly turned into a life-threatening situation when Hinda’s heart stopped twice during surgery.

Following the operation, Hinda spent three days in intensive care, battling pneumonia and signs of heart failure resulting from the cardiac arrest. Doctors believe she did not have a pre-existing heart condition. Although she continues to experience physical discomfort, including a sore sternum, Hinda is grateful for her recovery and the lack of permanent injuries.

Reflecting on her experience, Hinda emphasizes the importance of not disregarding pregnancy tests, even if one is on birth control and recently had a period. She believes that knowing about her pregnancy saved her life and hopes to raise awareness about the significance of timely medical evaluations in such cases.
