Two individuals have tragically lost their lives in a US shopping center, causing profound shock in the local community.
According to law enforcement officials, a man opened fire on five people after a meeting at a complex north of Dallas in Texas. Carrollton Police Chief Roberto Arredondo revealed that the perpetrator was acquainted with both victims in the incident.
Chief Arredondo mentioned that the suspect had a known business relationship with the victims, and the authorities are still investigating the motive behind his actions.
Following a brief chase by police, Seung Han Ho, 69, was apprehended approximately four miles away at a grocery store. Police had also searched a nearby apartment complex where Ho was reportedly residing, but neighbors claimed not to recognize him.
While three additional individuals sustained injuries in the shooting, they are reported to be in stable condition as confirmed by the police.
After the incident, armed officers and FBI agents were seen at the crime scene collecting evidence in the parking lot.
Carrollton, located 20 miles north of Dallas, is home to over 4,000 residents of Korean descent, as per the US Census Bureau data. John Jun, an active member of the Korean American community, expressed shock over the tragedy, emphasizing the generally peaceful nature of the community.
The city boasts multiple Korean churches, ranging from Baptist to Presbyterian denominations, and has evolved into a vibrant Koreatown over the past two decades in the metro Dallas area. This area is characterized by prominent businesses like H Mart and a variety of eateries offering Korean delicacies such as fried chicken and shaved ice desserts.
