Kylie Minogue is gearing up to reveal more about her intense yet brief relationship with Michael Hutchence in an upcoming docuseries about her life.
The 57-year-old singer, famous for hits like “Spinning Around,” will delve into the ups and downs of her career and personal life, hinting that she will discuss her time with the late INXS frontman.
A newly released trailer showcases archived footage of Kylie and her former boyfriend, including intimate moments of them kissing and posing together.
Kylie, who was just 21 when she met Michael at an INXS afterparty in 1989, recalled his bold approach, saying, “I don’t know what we should do first, have lunch or have sex.” She admitted feeling both intrigued and apprehensive about their immediate connection.
In a 2014 interview, she revealed that Michael had persistently asked to kiss her, though she had repeatedly declined. Following her breakup with Neighbours co-star Jason Donovan in 1989, Kylie and Michael embarked on a three-year relationship that lasted until 1991, shaping her young adult years.
Describing Michael as a “dark bad boy” and herself as “the pure good girl” in a 2019 documentary, Kylie shared how he introduced her to a world of sensuality and exploration. She acknowledged his role in broadening her experiences with sex, love, music, and more, emphasizing his influence on her senses.
Reflecting on their breakup, Kylie admitted confusion over the reasons behind their split, speculating whether it was due to work or external factors. She recounted a heartbreaking scene of Michael in distress, which left her devastated and marked the end of their relationship.
Following their separation, Michael went on to have relationships with model Helena Christensen and presenter Paula Yates, with whom he had a daughter. Tragically, he took his own life in 1997, leaving Kylie to mourn his passing.
Despite the years that have passed, Kylie continues to honor Michael’s memory, considering him a guiding presence in her life and even referring to him as a ‘guardian angel’ during her tours.
The three-part docuseries, “Kylie,” is set to premiere on Netflix on May 20.
