Fitbit, a long-standing brand in the wearables industry, has introduced a new device known as the Fitbit Air. Unlike previous models, the Fitbit Air does not feature a screen, resembling more closely the design of popular wristbands like Whoop bands.

While the absence of a screen means losing some functionalities such as message notifications and heart rate monitoring, the Fitbit Air offers distinct advantages. It boasts a comfortable bracelet-style strap that has been rated as more comfortable than its competitors in a recent Google study.

One notable feature of the Fitbit Air is its impressive battery life, lasting up to a week on a single charge. Additionally, the device supports fast charging, providing a day’s worth of power in just five minutes. The inclusion of a new magnetic charger with bi-directional technology ensures ease of use and quick charging without the need to worry about orientation.

Despite its minimalist appearance, the Fitbit Air remains true to its core functionality. It tracks various health metrics such as sleep patterns, activity levels, exercise routines, heart rate, and can even detect conditions like AFib, sending alerts for irregular heart rhythms.

Internally, the Fitbit Air houses advanced features including an optical heart rate monitor, a 3-axis accelerometer, a gyroscope, red and infrared sensors for oxygen saturation, and a temperature sensor. All data collected is seamlessly transmitted to smartphones for a comprehensive health overview through the Google Health Coach app.

Designed to be water-resistant up to 50 meters, the Fitbit Air will be offered in four color options: Obsidian, Fog, Berry, and Lavender. Priced at £84.99, this new Fitbit Air device aims to provide users with a more affordable and convenient way to monitor their fitness levels without compromising on essential health tracking capabilities.
