A new case of hantavirus infection has emerged involving a British individual, bringing the total number of suspected cases to three following an outbreak on a cruise ship. The infected patient is currently located on the isolated Tristan da Cunha island, where the MV Hondius made a stop in mid-April, as reported by the UK Health Security Agency.
Among the confirmed cases, two other British individuals have been diagnosed with the disease. One of them, a man evacuated from the cruise ship on Wednesday, is now in stable condition receiving medical treatment in the Netherlands. The second individual is still in intensive care in Johannesburg after being airlifted there last month.
