Renowned figure Sir David Attenborough has reached the milestone of 100 years. A series of events nationwide are set to honor his illustrious career, with a special commemorative event scheduled at London’s Royal Albert Hall on his birthday. Holborn’s Garden Cinema will showcase his 2020 documentary, while fans are expected to gather at Trafalgar Square dressed as animals or as a tribute to Attenborough himself. Additionally, new programs featuring him will be broadcast on the BBC, along with reruns of his iconic works.
Delving into his personal life, Sir David’s late wife, Jane Elizabeth Ebsworth Oriel, played a significant role. The couple married in 1950 and remained together until her passing in 1997. Following her tragic death, Sir David expressed profound grief, emphasizing the impact of her absence on his life. Their two children, Robert and Susan, have chosen paths away from the limelight, with Robert pursuing a career in bioanthropology and Susan transitioning from a primary school headteacher to working closely with her father.
Sir David holds his residence in Richmond dear, considering it his favorite place on earth. Initially hailing from Isleworth, Middlesex, he now resides in the affluent Richmond area, known for its scenic beauty and proximity to the River Thames and Kew Gardens. The serene Richmond Park, where deer freely roam, adds to the area’s charm. Average home prices in the region have been around £967,297 in the past year.
To mark the occasion, “David Attenborough’s 100 Years of Planet Earth” will be broadcast on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on May 8 at 8.30pm.
