A man has been released on bail after entering a not guilty plea to charges of threatening Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. Alex Jenkinson, aged 39, is accused of causing distress to the royal, who reportedly sought refuge in his vehicle with his security team during the incident while walking his dogs near Marsh Farm on the Sandringham Estate.
Jenkinson is scheduled to stand trial at Westminster Magistrates Court on July 29, with Andrew expected to provide evidence via videolink from an undisclosed location. The defendant has been prohibited from personally interrogating the former prince.
Appearing at Westminster Magistrates Court via video link from King’s Lynn Police Investigation Centre, the long-haired suspect sported a sling on his right arm. During the hearing, no specifics of the alleged offenses were disclosed. Jenkinson displayed surprise upon learning that his case was being heard in London, exclaiming “Westminster?” while frequently touching his face.
Originally slated for Norwich Magistrates Court, the hearing was rescheduled and postponed until later in the day. This development followed a report on Wednesday evening of a man behaving intimidatingly in Wolferton village, where the King’s brother resides.
Jenkinson was taken into custody on suspicion of a public order violation and possession of an offensive weapon. Subsequently, he was charged with two counts related to the incident, including one for using threatening language or behavior causing alarm or distress.
Besides pleading not guilty to the charges, Jenkinson admitted guilt to a separate charge of failing to provide a blood sample while in custody, resulting in a temporary driving disqualification. As part of his bail terms, he is forbidden from entering Norfolk, contacting Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, or visiting any royal premises.
Chief Magistrate Paul Goldspring specified the ban on Jenkinson contacting Andrew by name to avoid any uncertainty regarding the former prince’s royal status. Jenkinson provided his personal details in court and listed a care-of address in Debenham, Norfolk. Mountbatten-Windsor currently resides in Wolferton following his departure from Royal Lodge in Windsor due to his association with Jeffrey Epstein.
Having lost state-funded police protection and his royal titles in 2022, Mountbatten-Windsor now finances his private security arrangements at Marsh Farm. Despite settling a civil suit with Virginia Giuffre, he maintains his innocence in connection to Epstein’s activities and denies any wrongdoing.
