Police have apprehended two individuals and cordoned off the area following a reported acid attack near a McDonald’s in Greater Manchester.
The incident occurred outside a McDonald’s in Ashton town center at approximately 4 pm today, Friday, May 8.
Authorities from Greater Manchester Police stated that two men were taken into custody on suspicion of assault after being involved in a ‘hazmat incident’. Reports suggest that the alleged assault included the use of a corrosive substance.
A man in his 30s was transported to the hospital, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Emergency services responded to a business location on Warrington Road, Ashton-Under-Lyne, following reports of a hazmat incident.
The man in his 30s is receiving medical treatment for injuries that are fortunately not considered life-threatening or life-altering.
Two men in their 40s and 50s have been arrested on suspicion of assault and are currently detained.
The area remains secured, and there is no apparent danger to the general public.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue dispatched two fire crews to the scene.
