The family of a beloved grandmother who was tragically killed by a drugged-up e-biker expressed their anger towards him for abandoning her lifeless body on the road as he was sentenced today.

Gloria Stephenson, aged 86 and a mother of four, was struck by 19-year-old Billy Stokoe while crossing a Zebra crossing near her residence. Stokoe, distracted by his mobile phone, failed to stop in time, resulting in a fatal collision that claimed Gloria’s life instantly. Following the incident, Stokoe fled the scene on his high-speed e-bike.

Described as a widow who had endured the loss of three husbands to cancer, Gloria was a grandmother of thirteen and a great-grandmother of five.

Her family revealed that Gloria was walking her daughter’s dog and had plans for an upcoming holiday with friends. They remembered her as a remarkable mother who dedicated her life to her family and community.

In contrast, Stokoe exhibited selfish behavior after the tragic event, prioritizing his own desires over the grieving family’s needs. He requested changes to his bail to attend a football match and go on vacation while Gloria’s family was arranging her funeral.

Expressing their frustration, Gloria’s daughters, Julie Francis and Janine Murphy, criticized Stokoe’s lack of remorse and insensitivity. They emphasized the need for justice and a substantial prison sentence for Stokoe as a deterrent.

Reflecting on Gloria’s vibrant personality and unfinished plans, Janine highlighted her mother’s zest for life and the injustice of her untimely death. Julie praised Gloria’s determination and success in her career, portraying her as a devoted and loving figure in their lives.

Despite the pain of losing Gloria, her family hopes that the conclusion of the court proceedings will offer them some closure as they struggle to come to terms with their profound loss.
