A mid-air collision occurred at a US air show, leading to a large plume of dark smoke rising into the sky. Witnesses observed four parachutes descending following the incident.

The incident took place at the Gunfighter Skies Air Show near Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho, where both military and civilian aircraft participate in aerial displays and demonstrations.

Reportedly, the crash happened approximately two miles northwest of the base, prompting emergency response teams to swiftly arrive at the scene around 12:30pm local time.

According to base spokesperson Antwain Hanks as confirmed by the Idaho Statesman, crews aboard the aircraft successfully ejected from the planes. An air show announcer informed the audience, stating, “We had four successful parachute landings.”

Additional information indicated that fire rescue teams and various emergency services were dispatched to assist the pilots and crew members.

Despite the crash, the presence of four functioning parachutes was highlighted as a positive outcome. Witnesses described observing sparks in the sky, followed by the appearance of smoke and parachutes.

This incident occurred during the Gunfighter Skies show’s return after an eight-year hiatus. The previous event in 2018 tragically resulted in the death of a hang glider pilot in an accident.
