“Rutherglen Woman Admits to Grandmother’s Murder”

Published on

A woman, Clare Kilduff, aged 40, has admitted to the murder of a 61-year-old grandmother, Ann Coll, in Rutherglen, near Glasgow, just before Christmas. The incident took place on December 22, 2023, at a flat on Newfield Place. Unfortunately, despite efforts, Ann Coll succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

Originally from Donegal, Ireland, Ann was a well-known figure in the community, often spotted walking her collie dog, Lola. Following the tragic event, a thorough investigation ensued, involving the scrutiny of surveillance footage and doorbell recordings. The last known interaction with Ann was believed to be with her granddaughter, who was captured on CCTV footage in a local store the day before the incident.

Clare Kilduff, living near Ann, was located and apprehended over a month later on February 2, leading to murder charges. Detective Superintendent Lynsey Watters emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards such violence in the community, reassuring that justice will be served. She expressed condolences to Ann’s family and friends, highlighting the community’s support during the investigation.

Watters stated, “Violent acts like this have no place in our society, and our law enforcement will persist in ensuring that those accountable are held responsible for their actions.”
