One of the most secluded farms in Britain was the focus of a popular Channel 5 documentary, introducing Amanda Owen of Our Yorkshire Farm to viewers nationwide. The pressures of managing a farm while being constantly followed by TV crews took a toll on Amanda, 51, and her husband Clive, who is 20 years older. They decided to part ways in 2022.
Following their separation, Amanda shared the difficult time she went through, describing it as “dark days” filled with struggles such as an eating disorder, anxiety, and depression. She emphasized the connection between physical and mental health, revealing a complex mix of issues she faced.
Despite the challenges of their divorce, Amanda mentioned that there is now a harmonious relationship with Clive. They continue to co-parent their nine children and jointly run Ravenseat Farm.
Amanda’s primary source of emotional stress nowadays revolves around her cherished horses. She expressed the deep bond she shares with them but also highlighted the anxiety they can bring, particularly referencing a recent health scare with her Clydesdale horse, Hazel.
Even outside of horse-related worries, Amanda’s busy schedule keeps her up late, often working until the early hours of the morning. She mentioned her ability to function well with minimal sleep and her dedication to writing, which has led to the publication of five successful books.
Amanda’s children are also following in her footsteps, with her son Reuben, 22, and his girlfriend embarking on their own ventures. Reuben Owen: Life in the Dales showcases their journey to establish a heavy plant machinery business, set against the backdrop of the Yorkshire Dales.
Reuben happily shared that his family, including his mother Amanda, approves of his relationship with Jessica, emphasizing their shared interests and positive interactions within the family.
