A man has been sentenced to prison for stalking and fraud after sending threatening letters to an accountant due to his perceived condescending attitude towards her LinkedIn posts. Christian Jennings, 63, developed an unhealthy fixation on Jeri Williams, a woman with a significant following on the professional networking platform, while he was on bail following his arrest in 2023 for embezzling £150,000 from NHS funds during his time as a GP surgery manager in Camberwell, southeast London.

Jennings confessed to targeting Williams because he was triggered by what he perceived as her glamorous and superior portrayal on LinkedIn. Over the course of seven months in 2025, he sent six anonymous letters to Williams, containing personal and business-related details, along with menacing messages and threats to her pet dog’s safety. The court heard that the letters left Williams feeling emotionally and financially distressed, prompting her to involve law enforcement.

Williams, who had no prior connection to Jennings, discovered his online interactions dating back to 2020. She expressed how the ordeal had compelled her to change her lifestyle and business operations, out of fear for her safety and that of her family. Moreover, Jennings’ criminal behavior extended beyond stalking, as he was found guilty of diverting payments and raising false invoices amounting to £151,841 during his tenure at Camberwell Green Surgery.

Despite being remorseful, Jennings was sentenced to two years and four months in prison for his actions, including fraud and stalking. He is required to repay the remaining £120,000 within the next year. The judge highlighted the distress caused to Williams by the stalking, emphasizing the breach of trust Jennings had committed in his managerial role at the surgery. Jennings’ defense mentioned financial pressures as a contributing factor to his criminal behavior, with plans to repay the stolen funds.
