CCTV footage captured the final moments when a woman was last seen alive walking out of view with an accused double killer, revealed in court. Simon Levy, aged 40, was observed on CCTV entering a B&M car park in High Road, Tottenham, alongside Sheryl Wilkins, aged 39, on August 24 of the previous year, as detailed at the Old Bailey on Tuesday.
Earlier recordings showed the encounter between Ms. Wilkins and the alleged perpetrator as he disembarked from a 149 bus and trailed her past the bus stop. The footage depicted Ms. Wilkins in a crop top, accompanied by the defendant wearing a hood, moments before they halted outside the B&M car park.
The last sighting of Ms. Wilkins alive was before she disappeared from the CCTV’s range shortly before 1 am. Allegations suggest that Levy then suffocated her in a murder driven by sexual motives, a claim he refutes.
Approximately 45 minutes post Ms. Wilkins’ last sighting, Levy was seen adjusting his hood and then reappeared wearing sunglasses due to partial sight as he exited to the nearby pavement, glanced around, and returned behind the wall, glancing back over his shoulder while doing so. Subsequently, he emerged for a second time, retracing his steps back to his residence on Beaufoy Road, reaching there around 2 am.
During the presumed time frame of the murder and thereafter, several vehicles were seen maneuvering in the car park, with an unidentified individual inspecting behind the wall, while Ms. Wilkins remained undiscovered.
Later that morning, at approximately 6:30 am, two plainclothes police officers reached the site and discovered her. The jury viewed graphic footage depicting the moment her body was found.
Boray Is was driving a grey BMW car, captured on CCTV executing a U-turn in the B&M car park at 1:45 am. Is testified that he had dropped his mother at an airport and was en route to his uncle’s residence in Enfield. When questioned about his observation behind the car park wall, Is described seeing a male figure seated on the ground, initially presuming him to be homeless, with limited recollection beyond that point.
Levy faces charges related to the murders of both Ms. Wilkins and another woman, Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo, 53, under similar circumstances five months apart last year. Prosecutors allege that he lured the women with payment for sexual services before committing the crimes, charges Levy disputes. Additionally, he is accused of sexually assaulting a third woman in January last year, with prior convictions for sexual offenses, including six occurring within the same time span.
The trial at the Old Bailey remains ongoing, with reports that officers initially mistook Ms. Wilkins’ body for the alleged victim of the January assault, purportedly occurring behind the same wall where she was found.
