A Hollywood actress witnessed her son being bitten by a shark while on a family vacation, resulting in him needing 30 stitches. Marichelo Puente’s son, Patricio, sustained injuries on both legs while playing in shallow waters near his parents in Tulum, Mexico. Recounting the incident, the actress expressed gratitude for their fortunate escape, with her singer husband swiftly coming to their son’s aid.

Describing the terrifying moment online, Marichelo shared, “My kids were at the water’s edge, and the water didn’t even reach their waists. Then we heard Patito screaming horribly, yelling that something had bitten him.” She saw a shark’s tail disappearing into the sea and noticed a severe wound on one of her son’s legs, later confirmed by doctors as a reef shark bite.

Expressing shock over the incident, Marichelo said, “It’s unbelievable, I’m still in shock. You never imagine something like this could happen.” Patricio, the son of singer Jorge D’Alessio from the group Matute, underwent treatment requiring 30 stitches but is now safe and recovering well. Marichelo holds no animosity towards the shark, attributing the attack to the animal feeling threatened.

While shark attacks in Mexico are uncommon, a recent incident involved a Colorado boy, Dillon Armijo, who suffered severe injuries in Cancun two years ago. Dillon, who was bitten on the leg, endured multiple surgeries and hospital stays in both Mexico and the United States. Despite the ordeal, he is expected to make a full recovery, with ongoing physiotherapy sessions ahead.

Offering a cautionary note, Marichelo advised vigilance when swimming in the sea, especially near shorelines where sharks may be present. She emphasized the need for awareness and safety measures due to the increasing frequency of such incidents in coastal areas.
