Benjamin Satterley, a prominent English professional wrestler known as Pac in All Elite Wrestling (AEW) based in the United States, has passed away at the age of 40. The news of Satterley’s death was confirmed by AEW through their social media platforms on Sunday evening.
Although the cause of death has not been disclosed, Satterley was seen wrestling on television the night before, engaging in a match against Andrade el Idolo in Chicago. AEW praised Satterley for his exceptional in-ring skills, high-flying maneuvers, and multiple AEW Championship wins, acknowledging his significant contributions to the company.
Hailing from Newcastle, England, Satterley initiated his wrestling journey in 2004 in the UK before venturing into various independent wrestling circuits globally, including Japan and Mexico. Renowned for his acrobatic style and muscular physique, Satterley was inspired to pursue wrestling at the age of 18 by his aunt’s passion for WWF.
Having competed in World Wrestling Entertainment as Adrian Neville from 2012 to 2018, Satterley made a name for himself in the NXT developmental program and the cruiserweight division. He joined AEW at its inception in 2019, where he achieved several titles, including the inaugural international championship.
Famous for his finishing move, the black arrow, a gravity-defying dive from the top rope, Satterley earned the moniker “The man that gravity forgot.” While predominantly portraying a villainous character in the ring, known as “The Bastard,” he also displayed comedic versatility, as seen in his interactions with Orange Cassidy in a notable match in 2020.
Despite maintaining a private personal life outside the wrestling realm, Satterley received an outpouring of tributes from fellow wrestlers and colleagues following his demise, highlighting his talent, humility, and dedication to the sport. AEW CEO Tony Khan and Toronto-based wrestler Josh Alexander were among those who praised Satterley’s exceptional qualities and contributions to the wrestling community.
Tragically, Satterley’s passing marks the second loss of an AEW wrestler within a month, following the death of Andy Williams, also known as The Butcher, in September. Williams, a guitarist for the band Every Time I Die, collapsed during an independent wrestling event in Pittsburgh at the age of 48. Satterley’s infrequent social media presence included a shared photo with Williams in the locker room just days before his passing.
