Alanis Morissette Sues Ex-Manager Over Blackmail

Published on

Alanis Morissette has taken legal action against her former tour manager, accusing her of engaging in a scheme to coerce Morissette into a long-term contract under the threat of implicating her in drug trafficking. The lawsuit, filed in California, alleges that Keren Urinov demanded to be hired as Morissette’s tour director for 15 years and receive substantial compensation, or else she would report Morissette to British authorities for drug trafficking.

Urinov, who previously worked for Live Nation in Israel, was hired as a temporary tour manager for Morissette’s world tour in 2025. An incident at the airport during a trip from the U.K. to Spain led to Urinov’s arrest after authorities found drugs in her possession. Despite being released, Urinov allegedly continued to threaten Morissette with legal action unless her demands were met.

The lawsuit describes a series of letters sent by Urinov and her lawyers to Morissette, escalating their demands for a lucrative contract and immigration assistance. Morissette claims Urinov’s management of the tour was subpar, citing costly errors and undisclosed criminal history that affected the tour’s operations.

Morissette emphasizes in the lawsuit that she was left with no choice but to take legal action against Urinov, stating her refusal to succumb to blackmail and coercion. The singer is seeking a trial by jury in this case. Requests for comments from Urinov and Morissette’s representatives have not been answered as of now.
