Aldi is set to introduce 24 new stores across the UK, with 16 of them scheduled to open in the near future. The popular budget supermarket has also filed planning applications for additional locations, including a proposed £7m branch at Wirral Waters in Seacombe, Merseyside.
Known for its affordability, Aldi consistently ranks as one of the UK’s cheapest supermarkets and has been steadily expanding its presence in recent years. The retailer’s growth was highlighted by surpassing Morrisons to become the fourth-largest supermarket chain in the UK.
In addition to the eight planned sites, Aldi has confirmed 16 new locations where stores will be opening soon, according to reports from the Express. Jonathan Neale, managing director of national real estate at Aldi UK, expressed that their £370 million investment in new stores this year aims to extend Aldi’s value offerings to more communities, while also supporting local economies through competitive pay for employees.
