A recent photo of Cole Tomas Allen, the alleged assailant of Donald Trump, has been unveiled. The image captures him moments before purportedly storming the White House Correspondents’ Dinner with a firearm aimed at the US President.
In the revealed picture, Allen is depicted in formal attire inside his hotel room, donning a black dress shirt, black trousers, and a red necktie tucked in. Additionally, he carried a small leather bag reportedly containing ammunition.
Following the incident on Saturday night, Allen was apprehended and is now facing charges in federal court in Washington. During his court appearance on Monday, a chaotic scene unfolded with shots fired, Trump evacuated from the stage, and guests seeking shelter under tables.
Despite sustaining a gunshot to his bullet-resistant vest, an officer is expected to recover. Allen, hailing from Torrance, California, appeared in court clad in a blue jail uniform, represented by federal defender’s office attorneys. He faces charges related to firearm transportation and discharge during a violent crime but did not enter a plea.
While prosecutors have not disclosed a motive, a message allegedly sent by Allen to family members before the incident referred to himself as a “Friendly Federal Assassin,” expressing grievances towards the Trump administration. Investigators are examining his social media activity and communications with family for insights into his mindset and potential motives.
Aged 31, Allen is believed to have traveled from California to Washington via Chicago, where he checked into the hotel hosting the gala dinner. A video shared by Trump captures the moment Allen, armed with guns and knives, breached security before being subdued by Secret Service agents.
Authorities assert that Allen, who was a guest at the Washington Hilton during the event, acted alone. Public records indicate that he works as a tutor and amateur video game developer, with a social media profile aligning with his identity showing employment at an admissions counseling company for aspiring college students.
