Dermot O’Leary recently shared insights about one of his This Morning colleagues, revealing a lesser-known side of them. He praised Andi Peters for kickstarting his career by offering him a screen test for T4, which eventually led to a job on the show.
Despite Andi Peters’ frequent appearances hosting competitions and filling in on various ITV programs, the 52-year-old is much more than meets the eye. Dermot described him as highly intelligent and acknowledged his role in bringing popular shows like Dawson’s Creek to UK audiences through Channel 4’s T4 segment.
Recalling the beginnings of his career, Dermot recounted how Andi noticed him while warming up the audience for a live show, leading to the opportunity for a screen test. Speaking on The Travel Diaries with Holly Rubenstein, Dermot expressed his gratitude towards Andi for the chance he provided.
Highlighting Andi’s talents behind the scenes, Dermot emphasized his pivotal role in starting T4 and his involvement in acquiring and producing shows like Dawson’s Creek. He commended Andi as a great talent spotter and an all-around fantastic individual.
After his stint on T4, Dermot went on to host Big Brother’s Little Brother in 2001. He later took over as the host of The X Factor in 2007, following Kate Thornton. Despite a brief hiatus in 2015, Dermot returned to the show the following year.
Presently, Dermot is a familiar face on television and radio, notably co-hosting This Morning every Friday with Alison Hammond. He also makes occasional appearances during school holidays.
You can catch This Morning on weekdays at 10 am on ITV and ITVX.
