“Armed Individual Attempts Attack on President at WHCA Dinner”

Published on

Prosecutors have released a video showing an armed individual attempting to attack the US president during the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner. The footage, shared by Jeanine Pirro, the US attorney for Washington, depicts Cole Tomas Allen, the alleged gunman, pacing a hallway and briefly visiting a hotel gym the day before the incident.

Security footage captures the moment the alleged gunman, Allen, charges towards federal officers as they dismantle magnetometers at a security checkpoint. Despite one officer drawing his gun, he was shot by Allen, as confirmed by Pirro, dispelling claims of friendly fire involvement.

Allen, a 31-year-old from California, sustained injuries but was not shot during the altercation at the Washington Hilton, causing a disruption in the event attended by journalists and high-ranking officials.

Following his arrest, Allen agreed to remain in custody until his trial and did not enter a plea during his court appearance. Court documents revealed that Allen had prepared for the attack by arming himself with ammunition, a shoulder gun holster, and a knife, referring to himself as a “Friendly Federal Assassin” due to grievances against the Trump administration.

He is facing charges of attempted presidential assassination and other firearms offenses, potentially leading to a life sentence if convicted.
