A man described as ‘heavily armed’ was apprehended at Donald Trump’s golf course in California just days before the President was scheduled to hold a fundraising event there. Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies arrested 38-year-old Jeanine John Taele after observing him taking photos and monitoring security measures at the golf course on Sunday afternoon.
The incident occurred ahead of a Republican National Committee fundraising dinner that President Trump is set to host at the golf club in the Rancho Palos Verdes neighborhood on Tuesday. Authorities discovered a loaded magazine in Taele’s possession and later found a loaded pistol and additional ammunition in his vehicle parked at the site.
Further investigation at Taele’s residence in Downey, California, led to the discovery of more weapons and ammunition, including a .45 caliber pistol, body armor, high-capacity magazines, and two radio devices. Law enforcement officials also came across several notebooks containing ‘concerning statements.’
Taele was taken into custody on suspicion of carrying a concealed firearm and possessing illegal ammunition, specifically hollow point bullets. Authorities emphasized that there is currently no credible threat to the community, despite the alarming findings. Additionally, the 38-year-old is being looked into regarding a robbery incident in the nearby area of El Segundo.
