Temperatures are expected to drop significantly to -4C as a weather system known as the ‘Beast from the East’ brings snow to various major cities. According to the ECMWF weather model, cities like Bristol, Manchester, Newcastle, and even London might experience snowfall in the coming days due to unusually cold weather conditions.
Weather maps indicate that snow will form over Europe and the North Sea on March 26 before moving westward to the UK. Snowfall is predicted from Scotland down to southern England, with the snow expected to continue into March 27. The intensity of snowfall could reach four inches per hour in certain areas.
On March 28, a band of snow is forecasted to stretch across eastern parts of the UK, from Kent to Aberdeen, Scotland. Subzero temperatures are also expected to accompany the snowfall. Temperature maps show that on March 27, temperatures could plummet to -4C in Scotland, -2C in northern England, and -1C in Northern Ireland, Wales, and the southeast of England.
The Met Office has warned of colder conditions towards the end of March and the beginning of April, with a potential risk of frost. Their forecast for March 29 to April 12 suggests the likelihood of blocked weather patterns favoring a certain type of weather, possibly leading to a more extended period of settled or unsettled conditions. Average temperatures are expected overall, but there is a chance of colder conditions with frost risk during that time frame.
