Residents in the UK are preparing for severe winter weather as a powerful storm known as the ‘Beast from the East’ is expected to bring snow and extremely cold temperatures to 31 cities.
According to advanced weather maps by WXCharts, significant parts of the country will experience snow blizzards starting on Wednesday, March 11. Regions in the north, such as Scotland and northern England, are likely to be covered in snow, while places like the Midlands may also see white landscapes by the second week of March.
Additionally, snow showers are expected in the southwest of England, including Bristol and Bath, as well as in London and southern areas, where snow accumulation of 2 to 4cm is possible. During this period, temperatures are forecasted to drop significantly across the UK, possibly reaching lows of -4C.
Recent weather forecasts indicate that parts of Wales, the Midlands, and northern England may see snow at various times, along with other regions. Snowfall could also occur in the North West of England and Northern Ireland during the early hours of March 11.
The Met Office’s long-range forecast for early March suggests variable weather conditions across the UK, with a mix of Atlantic frontal systems moving through the country, alternating with periods of dry and sunny weather.
The forecast highlights that rainfall will be most intense in the northwest, with lesser precipitation in the eastern areas. Some areas in the southeast may experience fair weather. Snow showers are possible in northern high ground at times. Strong winds and potential gales are also expected periodically. Temperatures are anticipated to be close to or slightly above average.
