Renowned actor Frank Grimes, known for his roles in Coronation Street and Mrs Brown’s Boys, passed away at the age of 78 last year. His estate, valued at £387,326, was left to his beloved wife, Ginnette. After deductions, the inheritance amounted to £127,521.
Born in Cabra in 1947, Grimes gained early acclaim for his performances in Dublin’s play Borstal Boy, which later made its way to London, Paris, and Broadway, earning him a Tony nomination and the Most Promising Actor Award.
Grimes, who portrayed Barry Connor on ITV’s Coronation Street for seven years, also appeared in various TV series and stage productions, showcasing his versatile acting skills. His will, drafted in 2016, specified his wishes to leave his estate to his second wife, Ginnette.
The Irish Cultural Centre in London paid tribute to Grimes, hailing him as one of Ireland’s finest actors. They fondly remembered him for his exceptional performances, including his tribute to James Joyce, ‘the he and the she of it…A Portrait of James Joyce.’
Described as warm-hearted with a charming wit, Grimes’ legacy in the entertainment industry was celebrated by the ICC. His passing was mourned by many, with condolences extended to his family and friends.
