Renowned actress Sheila Bernette has passed away at the age of 94. She was well-known for her roles in the popular ITV soap opera, Coronation Street, and the BBC variety show, Good Old Days. During the 1970s, Sheila portrayed Sister Delaney on Coronation Street and graced the Good Old Days stage from 1968 to 1983.

A statement from the Royal Variety Charity honored Sheila, expressing how much she will be missed by her colleagues and the wider theatrical community. Born Sheila Poncini, she had a remarkable career collaborating with esteemed figures such as David Jason, Morecambe and Wise, Tommy Cooper, Dick Emery, Leslie Crowther, among others.

In addition to her television appearances, Sheila was part of the UK version of Candid Camera and featured in the children’s show Hotel Trubble on CBBC. Notable film roles included Three For All, Car Trouble, and Driving Aphrodite.

Close friend and actor Peter Kosta fondly remembered Sheila’s support and kindness, highlighting her humor and spirited personality. He shared that they had a heartwarming reunion shortly before her passing, reminiscing about the past.
