Amy Blanc Lacy, a renowned script supervisor recognized for her contributions to popular TV shows like The Walking Dead and Halt and Catch Fire, tragically passed away after a high-speed hit-and-run incident in Atlanta on September 1, as confirmed by local authorities.
At the time of the accident, Lacy, aged 62, was seated in the back of her son Oliver Lacy’s vehicle when a 31-year-old man named Buck Rollins reportedly crashed into their car at a speed of 91 mph in a 45 mph speed limit area.
The Atlanta Police Department revealed that Rollins lost control of his vehicle, veered off the road, and collided with Lacy’s car, resulting in severe injuries to Lacy who was subsequently hospitalized in a coma and succumbed to her injuries four days later. Both of Lacy’s sons, Oliver, 23, who was driving, and Adrian, 25, were also injured in the crash and hospitalized.
According to an arrest affidavit obtained by People, Rollins fled the scene and was captured on video walking away from the accident site after removing his golf clubs. Rollins claimed to law enforcement that he had a seizure and walked home after the crash, despite data retrieved from the airbag control modules suggesting he had braked just before impact, raising doubts about his seizure claim.
Subsequently, Rollins turned himself in and faces charges including first-degree homicide by vehicle, hit and run, reckless driving, and speeding. He was released on a $70,000 bond as per jail records.
An eyewitness named Stacey Elgin recounted the incident, stating she attempted to intervene after witnessing the crash and following the fleeing vehicle to hold the responsible party accountable for the devastating wreck.
Amy Lacy was highly respected in the entertainment industry for her meticulous work. Colleagues and friends, including actor Khary Payton and director Erin Lee Carr, paid tribute to her as an angelic presence and a bright light on set, respectively.
