Beverley Callard has given an update on her ongoing battle with cancer as she undergoes radiotherapy treatment. The renowned actress, who portrayed Liz McDonald on the popular show Coronation Street from 1989 to 2020, disclosed earlier this year that she had been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer, prompting her to step back from the I’m A Celebrity…South Africa series. Keeping her 317,000 Instagram followers informed, the 69-year-old regularly shares updates on her treatment progress.
Recently, Beverley posted a brief video from outside St Luke’s Hospital, announcing that she has passed the halfway mark in her radiotherapy sessions. Clad in a leopard print jumpsuit, the Corrie star mentioned, “Just finished number six. Over half way!” She later posted another clip from her home, sitting with her Giant Black Russian Terriers, expressing her need for tranquility. Her husband, visible behind the camera, humorously commented on the dogs’ behavior.
In a separate video, Beverley documented her return to work after undergoing surgery to remove the cancer in April. Despite feeling nervous initially, she described the experience as “fantastic,” emphasizing the warm reception from her colleagues and the joy of being back on set.
Beverley shared her initial diagnosis news during an appearance on RTE’s Late Late Show in February, revealing the challenging timing of the diagnosis just before starting her new role on Fair City. Despite the initial shock, she maintained a positive outlook, highlighting her resilience in facing the disease alongside many other women in similar situations.
