“Billionaire Umar Kamani Funds Pilgrimage for Reality Show Finalist”

Published on

Reported billionaire Umar Kamani has extended a generous offer to sponsor a pilgrimage for the family of a finalist from the show “The Traitors” who fell short of clinching victory. Faraaz Noor, the contestant in question, had expressed his intention to take his family on a pilgrimage to Mecca if he emerged as the winner of the competition.

Faraaz, aged 22, made it to the final round of the popular BBC program but faced defeat due to placing his trust in the wrong individual. Despite aligning himself with Rachel Duffy and agreeing to support her ally, Stephen Libby, Faraaz was ultimately ousted from the competition by both Rachel and Stephen.

Before exiting the show without the £95,000 prize money, Faraaz disclosed his plan for the winnings, emphasizing his desire to fulfill the Islamic obligation of Hajj by visiting Mecca with his family. He expressed, “For me, being Muslim, Hajj is one of the pillars of Islam. Completing that pilgrimage in Saudi, going to Mecca. If I was to win the money, I’d love to be able to treat the family and all of us go as one.”

Hajj, a sacred journey to Mecca in Saudi Arabia undertaken annually during the final month of the Islamic calendar, holds significant religious importance, with every adult Muslim required to undertake the pilgrimage at least once in their lifetime.

Despite missing out on the game’s grand prize, Faraaz’s aspiration to take his entire family to Mecca remains a possibility. Pretty Little Thing co-founder Umar Kamani has pledged to cover the expenses for the pilgrimage, expressing his intent in a social media post.

Faraaz, the penultimate loyal contestant on the show, expressed his frustration upon elimination, recounting his disappointment at being deceived by his fellow competitors. He shared, “When I saw my name on Rachel’s slate, I knew I was done and I was absolutely seething – there was steam coming from my ears. You probably didn’t see it, but I was gutted.”

Furthermore, Umar Kamani’s wealth, estimated at $1 billion (£797 million) as of May 2024, positions him as a key figure in supporting Faraaz’s dream. The CEO, who is the son of Mahmud Kamani, the co-founder of Boohoo, established Pretty Little Thing at the age of 24.

In conclusion, Faraaz’s ambition to provide his family with a meaningful pilgrimage experience may soon materialize, thanks to the benevolence of Umar Kamani.
