A shark attack tragically claimed the life of a young boy who was playing with friends and dragged underwater. Deivson Rocha Dantas was fatally bitten on his right thigh while in the waters off Brazil’s eastern coast, resulting in severe bleeding. Despite immediate medical attention, the 13-year-old passed away in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.

The incident occurred at Chifre beach in Pernambuco, a popular tourist destination in Brazil known for shark sightings. Over 80 shark incidents have been reported in the area since 1992, prompting the placement of more than a dozen warning signs.

Dr. Levy Dalton, the attending physician, expressed his team’s efforts to save the boy but unfortunately confirmed his death upon arrival at the medical facility. Another shark encounter earlier this year involved Tayane Dalazen, who survived being bitten and dragged by a shark while snorkeling near the same location where the recent fatality occurred.

The hospital team extended their condolences to Deivson’s family and friends, acknowledging the tragic outcome despite their best efforts to resuscitate him. These incidents serve as a reminder of the risks associated with shark-infested waters, especially in known hotspots.
