A British expatriate living in Dubai has expressed a preference for drone strikes over rainfall following recent missile incidents near his residence. Zach Cairns, who relocated from the UK due to high rent prices and unfavorable weather, shared his perspective despite feeling unsettled by Iranian missile activities in the area.

Despite the heightened alert status in Dubai, Zach remains resolute about his choice to stay in the city rather than returning to Britain. He emphasized his stance by stating, “I’d choose drone strikes over enduring 200 days of rain.” The optician, who serves a predominantly British and Irish clientele, recounted hearing loud noises and witnessing interceptor missiles near his home, causing concern but not instilling fear.

In contrast, another British resident, Poppy Owen, described entering a state of panic when her home was rattled by nearby explosions. Witnessing missiles in the sky prompted her to rush inside to ensure her family’s safety, leading to feelings of shock, fear, and anxiety about the unfolding events.

While acknowledging the ongoing missile threat, Zach highlighted the business-as-usual atmosphere in Dubai, noting that local authorities are actively communicating updates and precautions to safeguard residents and visitors. In contrast, Poppy shared her experiences of receiving emergency alerts and enduring sleepless nights due to missile-related disturbances.

Amidst the escalating tensions, British officials are taking steps to assist UK nationals in the Middle East, with flights departing from Abu Dhabi to repatriate stranded citizens. Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper disclosed that a significant number of British individuals are present in the region, raising concerns about the safety and well-being of expatriates amidst the geopolitical turmoil.
