A seven-year-old British girl has disappeared after being swept away by the sea during a family vacation in Morocco.
Inaayah Makda, hailing from Blackburn, was pulled into the Atlantic Ocean while enjoying the sunset with her parents on a beach in Casablanca. Family members have criticized the local police and Moroccan authorities for their perceived lack of assistance.
A relative expressed deep concern, stating, “We are all extremely worried. This is a distressing situation for everyone. Despite seeking help, the support we expected has not been forthcoming. The assistance provided by the Moroccan authorities has been deemed inhumane.”
Inaayah’s father, Zubair, contacted Naseem Khan from the Blackburn-based non-profit TV channel UCTV, recounting how a sudden tide swept everyone away, with the rest of the family being thrown in the opposite direction of the missing girl.
Describing the rapid incident, Zubair mentioned, “She was swept away so quickly. We are seeking assistance as the local police have been unhelpful and ineffective. They are not taking action.”
Another family member shared shocking details, mentioning the lack of support from authorities and being advised to wait for the girl’s body to wash ashore. The absence of warning signs at the beach caught everyone off guard when a large wave struck.
Blackburn MP Adnan Hussain confirmed his office is actively supporting the family after speaking with Zubair. He expressed deep sadness, stating, “My thoughts are with Inaayah’s family during this incredibly difficult time. I am liaising with UK authorities and the Foreign Office to ensure comprehensive support for search efforts and timely information for the family.”
The Masjid-e-Saliheen mosque in Blackburn requested the community’s prayers for the missing girl. Similarly, a FCDO Spokesperson informed the Mirror that they are assisting the family and in contact with local authorities regarding the British national reported missing in Morocco.
